PRESS RELEASE–McCain Backed Afghan Visa Program Funded By Cutting Benefits
Scottsdale, AZ – Today, Alex Meluskey, primary challenger to Senator John McCain, blasted his program to pay for Afghan resettlement with funds cut from veteran’s benefits.
As revealed by the Daily Caller, The United States Senate is using money from cuts to veterans health benefits to fund a resettlement program for 3,000 Afghans to the United Sates. This program, backed by Senator John McCain, resettles Afghan interpreters in the US by using the funds cut from pharmacy co-pays for veterans.
“John McCain has his priorities completely out of order. As important as budget constraints are, there is no good reason to exercise those constraints on the backs of our veterans. This tax on veterans is an outrage, frankly.”
The incumbent, Senator John McCain, has described this re-election fight as the toughest in his life. His Democratic opponent Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick is now consistently polling neck-and-neck with him and internal polls shows likely voters are far more willing to vote for a businessman who never ran for office, over a career politician. With the rise of outside candidates, now more than ever, a successful businessman like Alex Meluskey is the choice for Arizona.
Small businessman, radio host and FAIRtax champion Alex Meluskey is running a grassroots campaign to take on sitting U.S. Senator John McCain in the Arizona Republican Primary in the same vein as now-Congressman Dave Brat’s historic 2014 takedown of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Mr. Meluskey is taking on the establishment in Washington, D.C. and an entrenched 5-term Senator at a time when America needs new ideas to solve our nation’s challenges.
